Moving from grow-it 1.5 to 2.0
You do this once, and it takes about five minutes. Your account, settings and credits carry over. After this, most updates arrive by themselves.
01Ignore the 1.5 update steps
grow-it 1.5 may show an Update requiredscreen. Its steps say to unzip the file anywhere, and they mention Kiwi. Don't follow them. 2.0 needs the folder described below, so use this page instead.
Don't remove 1.5 yet either. You'll remove it at the end, once 2.0 works.
02Download 2.0
The ZIP lands in your Downloads folder. That's fine for now, it's only the delivery box.
03Unzip it into a grow-it folder
Chrome runs grow-it straight from this folder, and core updates go into it later. Put it somewhere permanent, then leave it alone.
Windows.
- In Downloads, right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All, then Extract.
- Rename the new folder to
grow-it. - Type
%USERPROFILE%into File Explorer's address bar, press Enter, and drag the folder in. Its path is nowC:\Users\<you>\grow-it.
Mac.
- In Downloads, double-click the ZIP.
- Rename the new folder to
grow-it. - In Finder, choose Go, then Home, and drag the folder in. Its path is now
/Users/<you>/grow-it.
Linux. Unzip it into ~/grow-it.
Open the grow-it folder and check that manifest.jsonis right there, not inside another folder. Don't use:
- Downloads, Desktop or Documents
- a OneDrive, iCloud Drive, Dropbox or Google Drive folder
- a USB stick, a network drive or a temporary folder
- the folder your 1.5 copy runs from
04Load it
- Open a new tab and go to
chrome://extensions(Edge:edge://extensions, Brave:brave://extensions). - Turn on Developer mode. It's top right, or in the left-hand menu on Edge. Leave it on.
- Click Load unpacked and pick your
grow-itfolder. - Pin grow-it from the puzzle-piece icon, then reload your X and Telegram Web tabs.
05Keep 1.5 until 2.0 works
Chrome swaps 1.5 for 2.0, so you should see one grow-it card with version 2.0. If you see two, remove the one that isn't 2.0.
Keep your old 1.5 folder until 2.0 runs for you. Then delete the old folder. Never delete the new grow-it folder.
06Sign in
Click the grow-it icon. You're usually still signed in. If not, sign in with the same account as before. Your credits, settings and activation carry over. Nothing is lost when you move to 2.0.
07The yellow debugging bar
2.0 has Turbo, which keeps your agents working while the X tab is hidden. While an agent runs with Turbo on, Chrome shows a yellow bar: “grow-it started debugging this browser”. This is normal. If you close it, Turbo pauses until you start your agents again. You can turn Turbo off in Settings.
08Android: Lemur or Quetta
Chrome for Android can't run extensions. Lemur and Quetta can. In one of them, download the Android ZIP above, open the menu, then Extensions, and load the ZIP. Load it over 1.5 without removing grow-it first, then sign in.
09No Firefox for 2.0
There's no Firefox version of 2.0. Use Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer, or Lemur or Quetta on Android.
10If something's wrong
- Manifest file is missing or unreadable. Pick the folder that has
manifest.jsondirectly inside. - grow-it is gone after a restart. Developer mode was turned off, or the folder was moved or deleted. Turn Developer mode back on, and put the folder back.
- Nothing happens on x.com. Reload the X tab.
